Skier Profile: Meaghan Walley

Meaghan WalleyMs. Meaghan Walley is another DC newcomer, and last but not least to our group. Ms. Walley is originally from St. Louis MO, has lived in DC for 4+ yrs, and has been to Germany but not Austria. When Meaghan is not leasing and managing property commercially, she enjoys the tri sports (run-swim-bike), driving range, occasional cooking catastrophes, satellite radio, coffee, gummi bears, and puffy vests. Meaghan can't stand being hot, and she's an earlobe frostbite survivor. This is her 2nd ski trip to Europe. Karaoke lovers take note: Meaghan knows many Shakira songs.

Skier Profile: Beth Eck

Beth EckMs. Beth Eck is a first-time ski holidayer, and joins this year's extravaganza via her DC Ski Club friend Derek. Ms. Eck is a native Washingtonian, although she recently abandoned her hometown for the inner Virginia suburbs and the right to vote. When not on the slopes, you can usually find Ms. Eck at the theatre, hiking in the mountains, or riding her bike. She has skied the Alps twice, but never on the Austrian side. We expect her fluency in Japanese to come in handy in Europe.

Boarder Profile: Chris Blizzard

Chris BlizzardMr. Chris Blizzard is another recruit from the Capitol City, and has never been to Europe. Mr. Blizzard is a Johns Hopkins alumnus, lives in Virginia, and works as a patent examiner. He began snowboarding in 8th grade while living in Japan. Fun facts: Chris saw Arnold Schwarzenegger on last trip to Sun Valley, and he claims to personally know US Ambassador to Austria. We hope Chris' last name breeds good snow fortune for us in March. Chris, Derek, and Marc sail together in Annapolis.

Skier Profile: Derek Horst

Derek HorstMr. Derek Horst is part of the growing DC contingent attending this year's Ski Holiday. He is originally from Cincinnati Ohio and lives in Washington DC. Derek is a Major in the Marines. Maj. Horst attended Ohio State for college, where the Buckeye-Michigan rivalry runs deeper than the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific. Derek and Marc often race sailboats together in Annapolis MD, and often with mixed results.

Skier Profile: Emily Richard

Emily RichardMs. Emily Richard is a first-time ski holidayer. Ms. Richard hails from Detroit-area Michigan and lives in Washington DC with her UVA alum friend and windowsill herb garden. When Ms. Richard is not promoting cancer prevention and survival through nutrition or educating kids in advanced math, she enjoys coffee, new nephew, powerful blenders, Settlers of Qatan, triathloning, Trader Joes, and travel scrabble. Fun fact: Emily spent a year in Thailand where she raced mopeds professionally.

Skier Profile: Beth Hogan

Beth HoganMs. Beth Hogan is one of few DC natives (almost) to join Ski Holiday this year. When not out and about fighting crime, err… empty bar stools, in DC and Arlington, Ms. Hogan is either plotting escapes from her government contracting job, touring wineries, or telling teenage jokes. Beth loves traveling, sunny warm beaches, skiing powder, live music, pina coladas, and walks in the rain. Ms. Hogan is looking forward to a few fun nights at the Krazy Kangaroo in a town with no last call.

Skier Profile: Ed Tan

Ed TanMr. Ed "Ed" Tan is our second DC-area resident to join the Ski Holiday crew. Mr. Tan is a Virginia Beach native, and a Dallas Cowboys fan for no good reason. He migrated up the coast to the DC area to pursue a career in software testing as he enjoys breaking things. Ed also enjoys pogo-stick competitions, Dickel shots, and spending time perfecting his rendition of Kelly Clarkson's "Since You’ve Been Gone" complete with original dance moves. Be sure to ask for a performance.

Tele-Skier Profile: Marc Oettinger

MarcMr. Marc Oettinger is once again the marketing director for this year's Ski Holiday. Marc is a Scorpio who enjoys fine dining, dancing, art history, language, sunsets, exercise, and delightful conversation. Marc has drawn upon the good and the bad in planning this ski adventure, and he hopes [expects] this to be the best snow trip ever.

Boarder Profile: Katy Downey

Katy DowneyMs. Katy Downey is also a third-year Ski Holidayer and first in from the St. Mike’s network. Katy is state trooper with absolutely no authority or jurisdiction in St. Anton. She Euro-phile who once hitch-hiked from Salzburg to Vienna with no Von Trapp family sightings whatsoever. She is looking forward to hurtling down the Alps on her snowboard with the tunes of Mozart dancing in her head. When not ski-holidaying, Katy enjoys impersonating the Rockettes. Ms. Downey is a recent inductee into the Alaskan Polar Bear Plunge Club.

Skier Bio: Robyn "Beena" Avery

Robyn AveryMs. Robyn "Beena" Avery is a third-year Ski Holidayer. Robyn lives in Boston, where she works as a Sr. Recruiter for a large pediatric hospital. When she's not recruiting and hiring, she spends her free time globe trotting and seeking adventures. Some of her favorite places to visit have been New Zealand, Iceland, Sweden and soon-to-add Austria. On the weekends she enjoys spinning, shopping and exploring new restaurants. You will also spot her at the après-ski with a glass of vino in hand.

Tele-Skier Bio: Terry Jennings

Terry JenningsMr. Terry "T-Bone" Jennings holidayed with us on the '07 trip to Verbier Switzerland, and the '09 adventure in the BC Rockies, Canada. Terry immigrated to Nuevo Mexico from his Colorado homeland to work as an environmental consultant in Los Alamos. When not jonesing for fresh powdah, he can be found riding his bikes, eating green chile, or saving the planet from environmental catastrophe. His hair has been known to get really big after a good day on the slopes.

Tele-Skier Bio: Denise Abdoo

Denise AbdooMs. Denise Abdoo is no stranger to the Ski Holiday circuit. She hails from Denver, Colorado, where she works as a pediatric nurse practitioner in Emergency Medicine and Trauma at The Children's Hospital. Denise is a flexitarian which means she only eats flexi, a flexible, fibrous, organic foodstuff which I bet is made by Kashi and sold at places like Whole Foods.

Skier Bio: Kim Lamb

K.L.Ms. Kimberly "Kim" Lamb is a third-year Ski Holiday varsity, joining the group from Boston where she works as a Research Contracts Manager for big pharma. A native of MA, she did a stint in the Midwest for grad school that extended into 13 yrs of living the good life. Missing family and the pace of the East coast, she moved back in 2005. Kim easily maintained her varsity stripes last year in Canada, and we look forward to her enthusiasm again this year.
